All About Me
A great way to introduce your child to his new teacher is by making an All About Me booklet. An All About Me booklet may include the following pages: Background Information, How I Communicate, Medical Information, Other Important Information, Sensory Consideration, Things I Can Do for Myself, Things I Need Help Doing, & What Motivates Me. As your child’s parent and #1 advocate you know him/her best. By giving an All About Me booklet to your child’s school team you will be able to relay information that is important to you and your child. This may be especially important if your child has limited verbal communication skills. Involving your child in the creation of the booklet may even help him/her prepare for the new school year. To view an example of an All About Me booklet created by a CARD mom please visit http://card.ufl.edu/iep/
Another great resource is USF CARD’ s Positive Educational Planning publication: We wish you a successful and fun school year! Our First Presentation Broadcast via Adobe Connect Was a Success! On August 11, Greg Valcante presented, Inclusion Struggles, Strategies, and Successes, to an audience of five in our Gainesville office and to an additional 15 Adobe Connect participants who were in Miami, Tampa, Palatka, as well as other locations throughout Florida. We will be offering our next Tuesday Night Training, MyFriends: A Presentation about Our Social Networking Club for Teens (9/8), online via Adobe Connect.
