Autism License Plate
Here’s some good news. The Florida Legislature passed a bill that will allow the state to have an autism license plate! The 7 CARD centers will get to share in 15% of the profits. UF Research Study – Participants NeededDr. Soo-Jeong Kim, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Florida, is conducting a study to examine contributing genetic factors for certain behaviors related to Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) via mail survey. This study is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). If you are the parent or guardian of a child with ASD who is between the ages of 6 and 18 years old, please contact Dr. Kim to help her research team with this study. When you contact Dr. Kim's office, her research team will explain the purpose of the study, as well as the research process, in more detail over the phone. If you decide to participate in the study, a packet of questionnaires about your child's behaviors will be sent to you in the mail. Your child will also be asked to spit into a special container for the genetic portion of the study. After you answer all of the questions and return your child's saliva sample, they will send you a brief summary of the questionnaire results along with a $10 gift card. They are hoping approximately 600 families will participate in this study. If you're interested, please contact them by phone at 352-392-7045 or email at kimresearch@psychiatry.ufl.edu so that they can give you more details about the study. |
